"I Tweet, Therefore I am"

"I Tweet, therefore I am." Okay, French philosopher René Descartes may not have actually said this. However, if Descartes was around today, he might. The introduction of social media has empowered anyone to have a voice. That voice can be heard (or in the case of a Tweet, seen) by anyone in the world that has an Internet connection. The size of the audience for the message is largely dependent, not on the gatekeepers traditional media, but the participants of the medium that the message is placed. Like traditional word of mouth, social media allows one person to share messages with others. Unlike word of mouth, social media allows for the mass dissemination of a message that has none of the physical or reach limitations. Therefore, social media is a perfect environment to disseminate just about any message. However, the mindset of "I Tweet, therefore I am", is not enough anymore.
